Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless use of electromagnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects. The tags contain electronically stored information.

System Overview, Resident Garment, Manager System
A  UHF RFID resident garment identification solution with fixed LED bin indicators in order to quickly sort resident garments.

Tagsys PAD500 UHF Reader + with integrated antenna has been chosen for use in item identification and sorting.

High-performance capabilities and application-specific features include:

  • Separate read and write levels, adjustable from 5 dBm to
  • 30 dBm on the integrated antenna and up to 31.5 dBm on the external antenna port.
  • A ‘fast search’ mode for reading tags affixed to fast-moving objects.

Read rate over 750 tags per second with high-performance feature settings.

  • Read range up to 30 feet for Generation 2 UHF RFID tags.
  • The ability to rapidly adapt to changing tag populations.

UHF RFID Tags
Tellen UHF tags have been specifically designed to meet the tracking requirements of the laundry industry in terms of shape, robustness and ease of fixation.
This version of this tag features a UNIQUE ultra-strong, heat-resistant thermosetting adhesive for direct fixation onto textile products using a standard thermo-patch process, while maintaining market-leading read and write performance.

Tellen Trak
Our UHF RFID tags may be heat transferred, however some resident garments such as woollen and delicates are susceptible to heat and may be damaged in this process. It is recommended these items have tags slipped into a seam, or sewn directly to the garment.

System Overview Laundry
The system Includes RFID readers that will be located above the door where staff enter/exit their workplace, each piece of linen will have a special laundry RFID tag which are waterproof and can withstand high temperatures during the laundering process, these can be either sewn on or heat-sealed on (towels would need to have them sewn on).

Linen Anti Theft System
Any item that has been tagged which then passes through the entry/exit would sound an audio and visual alarm or if required can lock the door or operate a camera.

The advantage of having all of the linen rfid tagged is that moving forward the tags could be read by either a hand held reader for the purposes of counting or a separate table type reader if the linen has to be identified to go out to different facilities or wings.

RFID Garment Manager System Overview
The Tellen Garment Manager system is designed to accurately manage garments for facilities that launder garments for residents or guests in the laundry process.

Every garment has a RFID tag sewn in and identified in the system through garment type and colour such as ladies cardigan, blue; usually during the admittance process of a retirement facility.

When the garments have been washed and folded they are passed over a scanner which is located under the folding table, this detects the information stored in the tag and lights up a LED light which is located on the front of pidgeon hole to advise staff that the garment needs to be placed in the corresponding pidgeon hole, this pidgeon hole is dedicated to the residents room number.

The System captures all of the information regarding how many times garments have been laundered also can produce reports to residents regarding which days and times garments have been laundered and returned to residents.

The Garment Manager Software can be customised to suit any business model.
